Football Fraternity Grieves Over Cheick Tioté’s Tragic Death

The Football world suffered a tremendous loss after reports flooded in that the former Newcastle United player Cheick Tioté died at the age of 30.  Tioté collapsed in the middle of a training session with Chinese League One side Beijing Enterprises on Monday. He was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cheick Tioté’s manager Emanuele Palladino confirmed that his agent passed away and requested for privacy of player’s family to be respected. Tioté’s wife Madah is expecting their third child, which is due this week.  He started his career for the Ivorian minor league FC Bibo. Later, he moved to Anderlecht in his teens and then moved from to FC Twente in 2008.

Tioté was signed by Newcastle from Eredivisie for £3.5m in August 2010. He spent the next six seasons with the team and represented his side more than 150 times. He left Newcastle in February 2017 for Chinese second-flight side Beijing Enterprises for an undisclosed fee. Tioté represented his country 52 times and was in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

Football Players Offer Condolences

Following the news of Tioté’s death, football players and managers paid condolences to his family on social media. His former teammate Demba Ba was one of the first to offer condolences. Rafa Benitz, who for a short period of time managed him at New Castle and Manchester City Captain Vincent Kompany also paid condolences to his family. Football fans around the world are paying tribute to the footballer by posting his best performance and goals in his career.
